Resilient Values in Game Industry Formation: Institutional Perspective to the Finnish Context

With the proliferation of technologies and digital platforms, contemporary game development firms’ value propositions have become more complex. While on a global scale considerable share industry’s revenue is captured by few dozen firms, we are also witnessing emergence local regional hotspots. In this context, legitimacy utmost importance if new competitive advantages to institutionalized as an industry. This paper extends studies which offered temporal snapshots or formation industry focusing Finnish context. The concept resilient values introduced legitimizing how shaped interpreted develop further. Our findings suggest intertwined with values, thus resulting in evolving over time through three different stages: (1) incubation period, (2) growth phase, (3) legitimacy.
